Let Your Light Shine!

Day 31

Read Matthew 5:14-16, 44-45

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

We only see that which is illuminated. God causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good. If the sun only gave its light to that which was beautiful and good, it would not only alter the world, but it would alter the sun. The sun must shine regardless of the condition of the world. In the same way, if we only love those who love us, we cease to be light to everyone. Do not let the darkness around you determine your radiance. Let your light shine to all!

Prayer – Ask God for the grace to let His love and light shine from your life to everyone you meet today.
