The school year is over, and HCA is slowing down, but our summer programs are just getting started! This week, we picked up 21 college students from the airport and 4 HBBC students have stayed on island after school to begin prepping for a busy summer at Harvest. They will work in our summer school program, teen and junior camps, international camp, and even our year-round events like our midweek teens’ and children’s programs.
The next 8 weeks for our summer camp team will be filled with lesson planning, teaching, going on field trips, and creating a memorable summer for both the team and the students they’re working with.
But before the busyness begins, the camp team has been preparing by participating in sessions that help them understand what to expect, learning about Guam culture, and preparing their classrooms and lesson plans. Throughout this week, the team has gotten to know each other, finalized their class plans, decorated their classrooms, learned the summer schedule, and familiarized themselves with the Harvest campus.
At Harvest, we believe in doing all things well and for the glory of God. Part of how we do that is by preparing our teams for what lies ahead of them in the summer. This critical week of training showcases the energy and effort the leaders of the camp team put into ensuring the summer goes smoothly and the workers are prepared for their responsibilities.
Each team member has a unique story about why they came to Harvest this summer, but they are all unified in their desire to connect with the children they’re working with, grow as teachers and ministry workers, and gain valuable experience. The team is excited to grow in unity and be part of creating a fun and meaningful summer!
Every member of the camp team is thrilled to be on island and eager to see what God has in store for them. As they end the week by preparing their hearts and looking for how God will use them over the next 8 weeks, consider joining us at Harvest by praying for the team as they minister, teach, learn, and have fun!
