Our Discipleship Program at Harvest

1:1 Discipleship is a ministry at Harvest that connects believers in intentional, weekly meetings designed to help one another grow in following Christ. By focusing on life-on-life relationships, 1:1 mirrors the personal way Jesus discipled others—building commitment, trust, and genuine care through consistent time together. These small groups (usually one on one, but sometimes one on two or three) meet to share life, study God’s Word, pray together, and encourage one another toward spiritual maturity. The goal is for every member and regular attender to experience this kind of ongoing, Christ-centered growth partnership.

Overview of 1:1 at Harvest

A Discipleship Group is the ministry at Harvest where we intentionally meet with a spiritual growth partner once a week in order to help one another better follow Christ.

By focusing on a small number of people (some might be 1 on 2 or 3) we are prioritizing having life on life impact the way Jesus did. We believe this type of discipleship is the primary avenue believers will be able to best obey the great commission of Christ (Mt 28:19-21).

The intended outcome is to have every church member and regular attender at Harvest regularly meeting with at least 1 person for the purpose of developing and deepening their commitment to being disciples of Christ.

Keys to Effective 1:1

  • Commitment – These groups will succeed or fail in proportion to your consistency in meeting.
  • Communication – These groups will be dramatically benefited with how much you are willing to share and open up with each other. Life on life can not happen if you do not share it with someone.
  • Confidentiality – Trust is the key to any lasting relationship. It will be critical to produce and maintain trust in the details shared in these groups.
  • Compassion – Relationships blossom when there is genuine love and care towards each other. If someone does not think you really care about them it will be difficult for them to open up and receive what you have to say.

In order to best maximize your time we would recommend you do the following four things that will help “build up” one another.

  • Catch up: Ask what is new with them personally since the last time you met.
  • Look up: Ask what is God teaching them personally through all avenues of life (work, family, church, personal time etc.)
  • Sum up: Ask what stood out from the HW in the past week.
  • Pray up: Ask what you can pray for them about in the coming week.

Common Questions for 1:1

No, but highly encouraged to. If a different time works better for you and your D-Group partner than feel free to meet then. This simply is opening up a consistent time and place to meet each week.

Inside the coffee shop (HUB) or underneath the outdoor awning next to it.

Once a week for 1 hour within the allotted time of 5:30-8:00 pm.

See the “Keys to Effective Harvest D-Groups” above.

We recommend you plan to meet for 1 year in this format.

You do not have to be a member in order to get a mentor but leaders must be members first.
